What do you love about being an instructor at sor. Studio?
I love being a part of such a friendly welcoming team who care about their clients. The studio has so much love and has created a safe environment for all levels.
Describe your teaching style in 3 words.
Spicy, fluid, and fun
How long have you been a reformer Pilates instructor and what got you into the industry?
I have been teaching Pilates for nearly 9 years! I was introduced to Pilates while I was in the professional dance industry. Pilates was a massive part of our training for injury rehabilitation and prevention. I quickly fell in love with how it made me feel and how welcoming it was to all ages and abilities.
What does your training routine consist of?
I currently do aerial lyra (hoop), dancing, Pilates, and running to keep my body and mind happy and healthy.
What are your favourite exercises and why?
I have so many favourite exercises, but a scooter would have to be one of my personal go-to’s. It not only strengthens your thighs, glutes, hamstrings, and lateral hip stabilisers but it also lengthens your hip flexors which so many of us need.
Do you have any favourite pre and post workout snacks? If so, what are they?
I don’t like exercising on a full stomach so often opt for half a banana or a homemade energy/ protein ball. For post workout I love making one of my protein smoothies, smoothie balls, or protein pancakes!
Where is your favourite spot to enjoy a day off on the Sunshine Coast?
I love the beach with all my heart. So, when I’ve got a day off, I usually set up my umbrella, bring a book and a snack and enjoy a day at the beach with my dog.
What kind of songs do you have in your Pilates playlist?
I love a bit of everything. But R&B throwbacks have my heart.
Do you have any advice for someone wanting to be a Pilates instructor?
Go to as many classes as possible! Take inspiration from others. How they cue, there programs, the energy they give to others. No instructor has ever had the exact same experience. Learning and growing from others is so important in developing your own style and gaining more knowledge.
Day days are you teaching at sor?
I teach every Monday at 4pm and 5pm. See you there!
